It has been much hotter since we got home and the garden has been loving it. Plants have been growing fast, especially the corn, tomatoes, green beans, and zucchini! We are harvesting 2 zucchini a week and the corn is almost ready to start picking. The temperatures have been very high (heat dome) so I have been watering a lot. The corn cobs seem a little small and that might be due to the heat. The onions have finished their growth and I have harvested 7 so far. Many of the flower plants have been growing also but not the actual flowers so much!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I swear this zucchini was the size of my finger just two days ago!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I truly enjoy just looking at the garden each day and complimenting the plants as I water! Yeah\u2026I\u2019m one of those plant talkers! We also got a gift from the birds – a sorghum plant. Looks a lot like a short corn plant with a tumor on top! I\u2019m going to let it go for now and cut the \u201cseed head\u201d off for the plants right before they release. Do not need more sorghum plants! And the pie pumpkin and the butternut plants are going to town with leaves but no sets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This pumpkin has a lot of large green leaves, a few flowers but no sets!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, the strawberry plants have started blooming and growing again. I think maybe I didn\u2019t have enough water on them before. Not sure but they are growing amazing leaves and some small, but very sweet, berries! So although we really wish the heat would break (especially at night), it is a good thing it was a wet winter. We are really conserving inside so I can keep watering the garden. I am truly grateful to Dave and Cherie for pick axing this thing out of the hillside during quarantine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
