After July and August, the plants were looking pretty sad and worn out. So many hot days and nights! We’ve gotten lots of the cherry tomatoes and some zucchini, strawberries are finally petering out, three butternut and one almost ready (and one little one that probably won’t have time), and just so many beautiful flowers. Thankfully this was not a drought year, although I think we are always pretty much in a drought year here, so I was able to pour on the water during the hot spell.

Green bean vines are going to town!

Bell peppers did make it to coloring even the plant was outright scrawny!

These butternut leaves look like spring!

So as the summer garden starts to wind down, the winter garden starts. This year is weird because I am caring for two gardens of sorts. We will be here until mid spring so I need to plant my garden here, but we will be moving mid spring. So I am preparing the garden for Wilton also. It is a nice spot but way, way overgrown and weedy. It is going to grow from scratch so our job now it to get it ready to rototill (such hard soil) by moving the greenhouse out, raised beds out and leveling it! I’ll write about it next.

The four o’clocks are loving the heat

As the weather has cooled, and has become very mild, the garden is undergoing a rebirth- green growth and blooms […]

[3
