I\u2019d say water is its first friend. Photosynthesis requires water, sunlight and carbon dioxide. I guess my conversation with them all, entreating them to grow strong and make food provides the CO2!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I pulled the garlic out today. I\u2019ve gone from raising micro garlic to mini garlic! But they have lots of cloves and smell great. I\u2019ve also harvested the first 3 green beans. There are many more to come. I think we\u2019ll get our first summer squash tomorrow and the first zucchini later this week. One of the plots of corn is in full tassel and the second is starting to grow them. The cucumber plants have lots of flowers and tiny cucs, but the cantaloupe has only flowers and lots of vines. No fruit yet. The watermelon plants did survive the attack of the leaf eaters and are now growing long vines. We\u2019ve transitioned from mostly bulbs to annuals and perennials . I have been struggling with a butterfly bush and lantana that were severely browsed by deer in 2020. They are both flowering now. These are last year\u2019s plants so very established and sweet. They bloomed all summer last year so I am hoping for the same this year.
