What a week it was. Yes, I know it really only 3 days with the WHOLE Engel family, but it was a bit stressful and quite fun! I truly enjoyed learning more about vegan food (for Alex) and learning a lot about baking vegan. I must say, all of it turned out OK – at least it got eaten and no one complained!

This is the first time we have really spent much time with Micki, Glenn and Alex – we saw them at Gonzaga’s graduation, but that has been it. Three days together and you start to get to know someone. I felt sort of bad because Micki is quite the social person and curious about people. It makes her a great real estate agent I’m sure. However, me not so much, so there were some awkward moments when I struggled to keep up my end of the conversation! It was wonderful seeing Matt and Glenn talking batteries – finally someone who mostly knows what Matt is talking about. Apparently the company Glenn retired from was a main competitor of Hive Engineering in Seattle! They were much bigger and more solidly established, but working on the same things. Alex mostly stayed to himself but interacted with us old people most of the time. His dog, Lucky, is cute and I felt bad for her being relegated to the pool area. She is much too boisterous for Max. Max’s hips seem to be really hurting him so they had to stay apart. He truly enjoyed a good sniffing session in the pool area after she left! Cherie’s roommate from Gonzaga (Lexi) also joined us for Thanksgiving day and overnight. She had lots of stories about Benin (Africa – Peace Corp), Law school (Santa Clara) and she and Jenny got to talk a bit. It is so funny hearing her and Cherie talking about their days in Spokane!

It turned out to be quite the game playing session during the week. We played Wingspan, Apples to Apples, with the VR, pool, Anomia, 6 nimpt, Telestrations, Switch games and many more. They are more card games people to our board games. Laughs were had though as everyone’s foibles are demonstrated. The kids and Dave went to Buckeye and played basketball a couple times too, to burn off all the food! We are definitely bigger eaters than they are – they seemed a bit overwhelmed with the fairly constant food options around here! I think Glenn really liked the cinnamon rolls and cookies though!!

Although I was quite tired after everyone left, it was a good tired. I do really like cooking for company and family! Trevor and Laura are coming this Saturday (make up day after their COVID scare) for smoked chicken and games, and then Cherie returns on Tuesday. This whole having to go back to Atlanta is ridiculous. She was there for 9 days! Oh well…water under the bridge now. The other news of the week is that she said yes to a dress and the beautiful wedding gown is now ordered! And it looks like She and Eric may have found a caterer that Jenny dug out online. Whoo hoo!!! I love how close the kids have become!

Off to see the financial planner so we can figure out logistics when Dave retires! I am so looking forward to those days!
