This is a very nostalgic state park for us since we went on our first camping trips here, brought the kids here back when we tent camped, when we had the tent trailer and now in King Tut. We like to walk the different camp sites here in Sugar Pine and remember which were good and maybe not so good for the various camping methods. It was pretty empty, which was shocking since it was after Memorial Day, but very nice for us. Overall the number of people everywhere we went was reasonable, although by the time we left on Monday, the crowds were showing up around places like Emerald Bay.

We had a substantial reminder about amazing Lake Tahoe is during this trip. Before we had kids, we might jet up there for lunch and an afternoon stroll along the lake. Talk about improved mental health!! We have camped at all the state parks and used to open the season at D.L.Bliss campground Memorial Day weekend with the kids (no swimming on that weekend!). After our UCD graduation we spent 3 weeks camping at various sites and even took a turn at Donner Lake campground (too many bugs!!!). Over the years we quit going to Tahoe during the summer because it gets too crowded and people are more interested in the photo for the photo, rather than the beauty. It gets to me especially. But what an incredible place worth all the efforts made every year to save it.

It was nice to go on a short trip after being home just a while. We were gone so much of May and not home much. We will be home for most of the rest of this month. We also were reminded about how nice it is to have an RV when it rained hard on Sunday; we were quite warm and dry playing games. Poor tenters looked miserable.

We will be off to the coast again in July. It has been pretty hot a few days here and there, and now pretty nice (80’s). Only going to get hotter. A week at the coast fixes all “hot fatigue” from our summers! Hopefully Dave’s foot gets better and we can get back to hiking again! Have a wonderful day!
Better not start a photo war… bet he could post plenty of pictures of you “just resting your eyes”
