Even though the courtship was short by today’s standards, the couple seemed happy and contented after the ceremony. As non-LDS ( aka the heathens) we were not allowed inside the temple at Payson during the actual ceremony. We laughed a lot by the fact that it started snowing while we were waiting, it was soooo cold, that we did get to go inside the lobby of the temple. The temple itself is beautiful as most LDS temples are.

We learned a few things during our waits (there were pictures outside in the snow (professional so I don’t have those), then a luncheon reception, a ring ceremony and finally a wedding reception at a reception center). Keegan, Cooper and Sydney also are not allowed inside the temple during the ceremony because they have not been “sealed” to a spouse. So they also do not get to see the actual wedding of their brother. Weird. Also, only white clothing and shoes are allowed in the inner sanctum so we saw many people carrying those garments into the temple. As far as I know, this is the only religion that prevents nonbelievers from participating in the social concept of a wedding. We have attended Jewish celebrations and Hindu celebrations, as well as many Catholic and other Christian celebrations. And non religious celebrations. I guess it is part of what makes the LDS church seem more like a cult. It was also interesting to hear that Cooper has withdrawn from the church although that may change as he matures.
The luncheon was pretty tasty and welcomed as we waited for the 4:30 pm ring ceremony and wedding reception. Apparently there is a newish cafe in Stansbury Park. I would definitely go there again.
In the wait between the luncheon and ring ceremony, we took Mike to a coffee shop! Hard on a person who hates the smell of coffee. But it was warm inside and Cherie was in need of some caffeine!

Jordan and Laura headed off to an Alaska cruise – starting with a 17 hour drive to Seattle on Sunday. We know they made it and seemed to be having a great time. I wish them the best of luck and love in the future!
