The Grand Tetons are my favorite National Park. The mountain range is so majestic and we have awesome memories of staying here a couple times with the kids. This is where Matt and I surprised a female moose who had just given birth and were way too close! Like 4 feet away and Matt’s hair stood on end when she growled (yes, a moose apparently can growl) at us. Thankfully she literally just had the calf and we beat it out of there. And so many animals! I love moose although they are one of the few animals that terrify me. And we’ve seen wolves several times. Plus the pronghorn, elk and bison. And coyotes.

Gros Ventre is way to the east of the general park, near the town of Moose, Wy and Jenny Lake. It is the place to see moose! Cherie and Eric discovered this fact first while tenting there. It is a weird campground and follows the GV river. No generators allowed or power except in one loop for campers and one for employees. We like loop F. People are quite relaxed in this campground except when they sight the moose. Yes, a campground of weirdos just like us. You don’t see big groups gathering to socialize. Just neighbor campers who nod and grunt “hello” just like we do.

The weather was less than ideal this trip. We had a lot of wind and two rainy days with off and on rain. During the rain we drove and revisited the visitor’s centers. When it stopped we hiked a couple of paths. Like Yellowstone and Glacier, there is a lot of driving to do getting to the various parts of the park. But poor weather always makes us truly glad for this rig! Watching people pack up tents and tent trailers in the rain, like we used to do, makes us grateful for what we have. King Tut is just about perfect for us, and great at pulling Li’l TG. And not a bad place for playing many games of dumb rummy!
