The weather has continued to be “weird” around here. We got two atmospheric river storms in December and January, followed by dry and relatively warm weather. We’ve been in the 60s multiple times lately. And some cold nights but only a couple near freezing. So basically, the plants are becoming confused.

These Gazania, African Daisies, are usually gone in the winter. But these are in a sunny, warmer area and continuing to flower!

I still have green beans that are fully leafed out but not flowering that I should probably take out. But they are nitrogen fixers so I let them hopefully enhance the ground for a bit longer. The potatoes, onions and garlic are very happy and growing well, and the peas are growing up the trellises. Slowly.

These onions are enjoying the warm weather.
These snow peas are trying to get up into the trellis. You can see the giant leaves of the potatoes and garlic in the background!

The fall flowers also continue to grow. Just about the time I think they are done, the rain stopped and the sun comes out and they quickly jet up some more flowers! And then repeat.

Happy, happy snapdragons!
These naked ladies, Amaryllis, are very happy in their planter
These white carpet flowers are still going strong even as the other plants in the pot have died back for the year

I have another month or so until I start seeds for the spring garden so I am mostly weeding and getting rid of the carpet of leaves trying to cover the garden. I also need to replace, again, the pennant flags we use the keep the deer from jumping the fence since those were completely trashed with the crazy winds we had in the last storms. I am looking forward to getting this garden ready for when we sell this place although it will be sad for me to leave them! I really love growing these plants!
