I got notice today of the passing of a friend from COVID. I was mainly friends with his wife but he did come by room 20 now and again to see how I was doing (and grab a York Patty). Chuck and Bev planned on traveling around the United States in their trailer after retirement and mostly they did. Then they found Florence, OR and settled down a bit. Rita and I stayed there on one of our trips and I absolutely love the town. It is in a perfect place on the Oregon coast. As far as anyone knows, Chuck had no physical problems and his only comorbidity was age. This virus is mean and ugly and I just wish everyone would buckle down so we can defeat it! Makes me truly “rehate” Trump for making this a political thing instead of trusting in the science. I feel so bad for Bev.

The past week has been pretty nice though except for the Caldor fire and the smoke it is pushing down on us. Today our air quality is at 208- VERY UNHEALTHY. So I garden with a KN 95 mask and my eyes burn. I feel bad for the birds, Ms Scarlett and the girls, and all of those who cannot get away from the smoke. OK…maybe not too bad for the damn squirrel eating all my bird food. ARG! I long for nice blue skies!!

Eric and Edna are visiting and I have learned just how much my SIL loves to work with plants. I knew she did but she looks quite at home cutting dead parts off my plants with her scissors! They have also had fun feeding the deer and watching all of our birds. It is a good reminder to “stop and smell the roses” every so often. And never, ever take life for granted.
