It was nice to leave California and the smoky skies. Although it had cleared out at home, it was extremely smoky coming up 80 and going over Donner Pass. The smoky skies continued across Nevada. We stopped for the night in Elko.
Continuing the next day (Thursday), we made it to Auntie Mike’s in Stansbury Park. The drive was pretty straightforward, although it is still weird getting passed by trucks! That afternoon we watched Hannah play tennis for Tooele High School. We left that in changing weather and then it poured! We watched from inside Noodles and company. Then it kindly stopped pouring in time for us to go watch Jordan pitch for the adult league team that Jim used to play on. He played quite well. We also got to meet his friend, Laura.

Friday was a pretty busy day also. Dave and I trimmed several trees in the front and back of Mike’s property. She stacked it pretty high on the side of her house until it can get into the garbage. Then we went to watch Hannah in the Tooele homecoming parade and then be introduced as the Homecoming queen escorted by Cheryl and Jim. She was so happy. Emily was running around as a student body officer for the sophomore class. Hannah had to do a pretty quick outfit change to then dance in the pregame show. Then, finally we had dinner (Costa Vida) with Cheryl and came home and collapsed into bed.

Today started with Mike, Dave and I heading to the “This is the place” a park about the pioneers that brought white people to Utah. Although very heavily slanted toward LDS, there was mention of other people and even the indigenous tribes. The Navajo in this region were the first to farm as they lost their lands.
Now the rummy games have begun. I actually won the first two games. Then Cooper showed up so I gave him my seat. It is fun to listen to the men laugh and giggle as they talk smack to each other! Hannah and Emily have the homecoming dance tonight. We will be having Labor Day thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.
