It figures that the garden is finally coming into its own – and we are leaving for a month! Luckily, Matt, Jenny and Max will get to enjoy the squash, corn, beans and maybe the cantaloupe and watermelon too. It seems so weird to think that I will start prepping and planting for the winter crops when we get home!

As you can see, a farmer I am not! That tiny, but very well-formed, corn in the middle comes from my garden. The others come from Bel Air! The little corns I have harvested are very tasty if only a couple of bites. I figure it is just a problem of not getting enough sun during the growth period. There seems to be enough pollination, just super short ears!

Yep – I claim the middle one!

The flowers are enjoying the cooler temperatures from the smoke. I keep rinsing them off and it is extremely gross what runs off their leaves. Gray water. Bleh… I have to wash out the birdbath also, since it gets mucky and the birds have truly been using it. I really like that Kris made that with the kids when they were at CMP!

I hope you can feel some relaxation from these pictures. I’m gonna miss my time in the garden!
