I have long made brownies from a box and added in things to make it a little special because “from scratch” brownies didn’t seem much better and a lot more work. And then…found these brownies on line, switched it up a little and man, are these tasty. And not all that hard to make!
Ingredients:
10 tbs softened butter
1 1/4 cup white sugar
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla paste or powdered vanilla
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unbleached flour
1/2 cup chocolate chips- either dark or milk chocolate
3/4 cup caramel chips (I can usually find these at Target)
Directions:
Warm oven to 325F. Line an 8”x8” square pan with parchment paper.
Warm butter until just melted in the microwave. Mix in sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla. You are making a sort of chocolate caramel. Add eggs one at a time and mix in thoroughly. The batter will be thick but smooth. Thoroughly mix in the flour and chocolate chips. Again, this will be pretty thick batter. Finally, add in the caramel chips.
Place into pan and spread out to the corners as needed. Bake for 23 minutes. It will look undercooked but that is fine. Cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting. Enjoy!
